Commonwealth Intergovernmental Agreements

The Agreement recognizes that indigenous participation in the economy is essential to the full realization of the development of Northern Australia and provides a framework for governments to cooperate and individually promote the economic development of indigenous people in northern Australia. 4.2 Nothing in this Agreement shall affect an existing intergovernmental agreement between the Commonwealth and one or two States or between States, unless amendments or additions to such agreements are proposed in accordance with an existing review process and/or a review process arising from this Agreement. 11. The Parties recognise the responsibility of the Commonwealth for the implementation of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) and the export of wildlife products.
